Conflict Resolution in Our Schools & Communities

Many experts in violence prevention would argue that we are living in an epidemic of violence in this country. Injury, not illness, is killing our young people. Homicide has now replaced auto accidents as the #1 cause of death among young people ages 15-24 in the United States. Our youth need skills in resolving their differences nonviolently!

Through Resolution Management, young people and adults learn and practice skills for developing positive attitudes and wise decision-making that result in better behaviors and relationships, improved academic performance, and an increased motivation to pursue life goals. Resolution Management offers the following staff workshops:

• Conflict Resolution and Violence Prevention

• Bias Awareness
• Self-Esteem Workshops

In these interactive workshops participants explore the nature and causes of conflict in their lives and communities. They will practice proven techniques for handling conflicts more productively and examine ideas for helping young people learn to resolve differences in creative and nonviolent ways.

• Approaches for teaching students the skills of Conflict Resolution
• Methods for helping youth express feelings appropriately and manage anger
• Skills for enhancing communication and empathy
• Activities for increasing understanding and acceptance of different cultures
• Teambuilding approaches to resolving disputes and developing the ability to use conflict in a positive rather than destructive way
• Learn the skills and techniques of mediation
• De-escalate tension, frustration and misunderstanding in your community

 

Action Planning & Follow-up Sessions
Experience has shown that to truly apply the skills and knowledge one acquires through training, a plan of action and follow-up needs to be put in place. Thus, Action Planning and a Follow-up component are part of every Resolution Management Training Program.

RM is now making available outstanding training programs & materials to in-house instructors. Each program includes a scripted facilitator's guide, reproducible handouts and overhead transparency masters that are ready-to-go and very simple to facilitate. These proven skill-based workshops provide all the needed insights and suggestions to deliver a successful training workshop. They are easy to use and save a tremendous amount of instructional design time. Train-the-Trainer programs are also available.
